limu pani with ice in a glass

Limu Paani Pakistani Limeade

Summer is in full swing and it is hot enough to enjoy Limu Paani Pakistani Limeade , a thirst quencher in the heat. Limu or Nimbu Pani is a Pakistani style limeade. Limu or Nimbu translates as lemon/lime and paani means water – so lime water. It has a clean, refreshing flavour and is rich in vitamin C.

This drink is made with 5 ingredients only and is very easy to make. Fresh Lime gives the drink a unique flavor unlike the store bought lemonade. Although lime is the best choice lemons can also be used to make this. There will be a slight change in flavor. Adjust salt and sugar according to taste.

Equipment you need:

  • A big pitcher – you can also use a blender to blend it will be quicker
  • A big serving spoon or a whisk to mix the ingredients
  • A lemon squeezer/juicer for the lime juice – you can do it by hand but this will just make it easier

Tips for making the Limu Paani Pakistani Limeade

  • Type of Sugar: even though any sweetener can be used but the water will take on the colour of the sweetener such as maple syrup, so I recommend that you use a clear sweetener or white sugar.
  • Fresh Juice: You can use the concentrate to make this drink, but I will recommend using fresh lime juice, it tastes better.
  • Use chilled water and lots of ice – the more chilled the drink is the better.
  • Pour some of the limeade into an ice cube tray to freeze. Use these to chill the drink instead of the regular ice cubes so that the limeade does not dilute.

Variations of Limu Paani Pakistani Limeade

  • You can add spices such as cumin and black pepper, to give it a little spice flavour.
  • Add some crushed mint for flavour and garnish

Storing the Limeade

This drink can be made ahead of time and kept in the refrigerator and used as when. It can be kept for up to four days. You can also make popsicles out of the limeade, a fun way to store that extra limeade.
