allergy friendly pasta chips in a bowl

Allergy Friendly Pasta Chips (Tiktok Viral Food Trend)

This recipe is of Allergy Friendly Pasta Chips, the latest Tiktok food trend. Made with cooked pasta tossed in olive oil, Parmesan cheese, herbs & spices, and then air fried until crispy! The perfect crunchy appetizer or snack, ideal for dipping in your favorite sauce. So of course, I had to hop on this trend. I made it gluten free and dairy free!

Gluten Free Pasta Chips

Use your favourite gluten free pasta. I used shells as I had only those at hand but you can substitute any you like. Cook according to the brand’s instructions.

Dairy Free Pasta Chips

The recipe calls for Parmesan cheese. I know there is vegan Permesan available but not where I live so I substituted with dairy free cheddar style shreds. I grinded the cheese in a coffee mixer to a consistency similar to Parmesan cheese.

If you have the dairy free Parmesan cheese available use that, otherwise, substitute with your favorite dairy free cheese. Make sure to coarsely grind it first.

If for some reason you cannot find dairy free cheese, use gluten free bread crumbs to give the pasta chips the crunch.

Seasoning

Most recipes use olive oil, garlic, different herbs but there are different flavor variations. I have seen salt & vinegar flavored ones as well Indian spiced.

For this allergy friendly potato chips, I kept the basic seasoning and just added black pepper & crushed red chili flakes. You can substitute with your favorite spices & herbs.

How to cook Allergy Friendly Pasta Chips

While most recipes I have seen cook the pasta for 10 to 15 minutes in air fryer but I had to cook the pasta for 20 minutes, maybe because the pasta was gluten free.

Cook the pasta in 5 minutes intervals to:

  • To mix the pasta so that it cooks evenly and gets crispy
  • Also to keep an eye so that it does not burn, of course the cooking time for appliances vary so keep an eye on it.

If you do not have an air fryer, you can bake them in the oven. You might have to bake them for longer time than air frying.
